Today you may have heard that the coast of Orange County is being hit with high winds and extreme waves. These factors combined with a high tide may cause some flooding in low-lying areas along the coast.
As a precaution, there are a few things you can do now to prepare for a possible water exposure:
1) Place sand bags along high-risk areas. Contact your local fire department for the nearest “free sand bag” distribution location. Please note, you may have to fill your own bags and load them into your vehicle.
2) Be sure to raise or move any low level furniture and possessions to a higher floor if possible.
Agent Note: A homeowner’s policy does not cover flood damage. Flood damage is covered by a separate flood policy. When purchasing a flood policy, there is typically a 30-day wait period before it will be “in force.”
